PERFORMATHON 2008: Student & Faculty Concerts to Benefit the Scholarship Fund
Friday, May 2 - Performances at 6:00, 7:15 and 8:30 pm
Saturday, May 3 - 10:15, 11:30 am, 12:45, 2:00, 3:15 and 4:30 pm
1. What is a Performathon? A Performathon is a series of fundraising performances for students and faculty. Through contributions, we will be raising money for our Scholarship Fund.
2. Why do we need a Performathon? A tenet of all community music schools is to provide affordable music education for everyone. While we try to keep our tuition as competitive as possible, there are still many people who cannot afford to study music. In 2007-2008 Indian Hill awarded nearly $35,000 in need-based scholarships through the generosity of donors to our Scholarship Endowment, and through contributors to our Performathon. We want to continue to expand our scholarship awards and increase the number of students we can assist.
3. How will funds be raised for scholarships? Students and faculty who are playing in recital on May 2 and 3 will ask people to sponsor their performance. We need approximately $12 per minute to raise our goal of $7,000 through the Performathon. The student can let you know how long their piece is if you would like to use this as a guideline for your contribution. For instance, a student who is playing a 3 minute piece might suggest a $36 contribution. This is merely a guideline, and every contribution will be greatly appreciated.
4. How can I make a contribution? You can pay by cash, check (
payable to Indian Hill Music) and credit card.
Click here for a contribution form. Secure credit card contributions can be made online through the
Firstgiving website. (In order for students to qualify for incentive prizes, please be sure to make your contribution before the Performathon.)
5. How much of the donation will be used for scholarships? 100% of individual cash contributions will go directly to the Scholarship Fund. Your donation is tax-deductible to the full extent allowed by law.
6. Can I attend the recitals? Yes! We encourage everyone to come to the recitals on Friday evening and all day Saturday. Students will provide you with information about the recital for which they are scheduled. We hope our sponsors will stay for one hour of the recital in order to provide a good audience for each of our performers.
7. Besides being a sponsor, how can I help? There are a number of volunteer opportunities available during the recitals (like handing out programs, checking in students, selling refreshments). Call the school office (978) 486-9524 if you are interested in being a volunteer.
Thank you for your support! We look forward to seeing you on May 2 and 3!
