Placement
Students are personally matched with teachers compatible with the student's learning style, goals and personality. New students are given a trial period of four lessons to ensure a good match. After the fourth lesson, the placement becomes a commitment for the remainder of the term and there are no refunds.
Evaluations
Our goal is to more fully involve parents/students in the process of setting goals and evaluating progress for private lessons, classes and ensembles.
Student/Teacher/Parent Conferences
This is an opportunity to support and encourage students to develop skills in evaluating their own progress.
General Certificates
Certificates are awarded to students by individual faculty for specific accomplishments.
Juried Certificates
A panel of faculty share comments on a student's strengths and make helpful suggestions on each selection played by the student. Students progress through prescribed levels.
Practice-Folios
Provides students a process to record, observe and reflect on their practice habits.
To Register
Fill out and follow directions on registration form (click the Register button) and mail or fax. The school office will call you for placement with a teacher. Registrations are accepted throughout the year.
ALEXANDER TECHNIQUE
Musicians of any level or age can learn simple techniques to improve performance and increase musical enjoyment and expressiveness. Performance Coaching and Alexander Technique lessons help students make the most of their musical training. Advanced or professional musicians can let go of bad habits that have limited their playing or caused pain. Less accomplished students can learn strong habits that will lead to faster progress on their instruments, prevent future pain, and help them excel on stage.
You, or your child, can:
- Have free, graceful, painless movement when playing.
- Take the stage with confidence.
- Connect more deeply with your audience and your ensemble/band-mates.
- Coordinate mind and body to create a more vibrant sound.
- Express yourself more artistically through your music.
Many top conservatories include the Alexander Technique in their curriculum, because musicians need to learn how to use their body and their mind, even as they learn how to play their instrument. This is most true when under the stress of public performances such as recitals or gigs.
Students can learn the same techniques that many professionals and faculty are studying in order to develop and maintain optimal practice habits which allow them to excel on stage.
Private performance coaching and lessons in the Alexander Technique: In these lessons, each student will receive personalized training to accelerate learning, break bad habits and develop strong practice and performance skills.
