This 8-week toddler class features musical patterns and body awareness, and celebrates play. In October, we’ll play pattern games and explore body awareness from head to toe. In class we’ll listen for patterns and repeated phrases in the music, which develops your child’s early math skills and self-esteem. When you play the same pattern-seeking games at home that we played in class, your toddler’s confidence and skill building will grow. November’s theme is all the ways you playat home, in the school yard, during your family time together. In class we’ll play “Follow the Leader” and other playground games to help your toddler develop listening and singing skills while strengthening movement and hand-eye coordination. Your magazine-style Family Guide also includes at-home activity ideas, games, and questions that involve the class story, so your child develops memory and comprehensionall in the context of sharing time with you. At Home Materials (a $30.00 value included in tuition) include 2 CDs, 2 magazine-style Family Guides (with class stories) and a pair of rhythm sticks.

In class, we’ll listen to marching music, play pretend parades, and help your preschooler develop rhythm and coordination skills. Marching to the beat of his own drumin class and at homehelps your preschooler make a vital rhythm and body connection, one that’s necessary to help him master any number of movement activities such as writing, dribbling and shooting a basketball, dancing, and skipping. Next, we’ll focus on the piano. The same fine motor skills and hand-eye coordination your preschooler needs to hold a pencilare developed through the special keyboard-playing activities we’ll be playing in class. Kindermusik for the Young Child continues the musical journey with a two-year sequential program for kindergarteners and elementary school students. Using a small-group approach to music education, Kindermusik for the Young Child provides a pressure-free class where your child can develop a strong musical foundation by learning the concepts, language, notation, and vocabulary of music and its greatest composers. The program is designed to prepare the young child who is eager for first experiences with musical symbols and instrument discovery but is not yet ready for formal lessons and traditional music reading with an instrument. Play remains the primary way a young child learns, so throughout the curriculum there is a consistent effort to balance active learning with the emotional reasoning aspects of a young child’s development in mind. Home Materials (a $71.95 value included in tuition) provide a home version of the same playful activities you’ll hear about from class, so your child and you! can learn where you’re most comfortable: at home. Some instrument practice is required for successful completion of the class.
