INTRO TO INSTRUMENTS
Instrument Discovery Series Grades 1-4 (with adult)
Thursdays - 6:30-7:30 pm
7 weeks - April 4, 11, 25, May 2, 9, 16, 23
$150 per semester (one adult, one child), +$25 each additional child
Instructors: IHM Faculty
This popular series offers hands-on experience with several major instrument families: Brass, Winds, Percussion, Piano, Strings, Voice and Guitar. Students will learn about the history of the instrument, listen to recordings, watch student and professional musicians play, and then have ample opportunity to try out the instruments. Parents will receive valuable information about lessons, instrument costs and choosing the right instrument for their child. Students and their families are invited to an Open Rehearsal of the Orchestra of Indian Hill to experience the instruments in action.
BONUS! Participants are entitled to a 10% discount on their first term of private lessons with the instrument of their choice.

PIANO DEPARTMENT

Using the Music Tree series by Frances Clark and Louise Goss, students engage in creative keyboard exploration, learning basic music and keyboard skills, theory, ensemble playing, and composition. Students should be prepared to practice at least 20 minutes per day, and complete additional written activities with adult help at home. Students must be at least in Kindergarten. A piano of 61-note touch sensitive keyboard with sustain pedal is required for home practice. Students will need to purchase lesson and activities books: Music Tree Part 1 and Music Tree Part 1 Activities (approximately $8 each - $16 total).

A consultation with the teacher is required prior to registration for pre-Kindergarten students to ensure that they have the physical skills and abilities to participate in this class.
IRISH MUSIC DEPARTMENT
Traditional Folk/Irish Singing Class for Kids Ages 6-10
Wednesday, 6:30-7:00 pm
15 weeks starting February 6
$125 per semester
Instructor: Liz Simmons
Explore the world of Irish/Folk singing. This weekly 30 min session will begin with gentle warm-ups focusing on enhancing vocal flexibility and learning scales. Emphasizes learning age appropriate folk songs through traditional ear training and memorization. Provides a fun and casual environment for younger students to simply enjoy and expand upon their interest in singing..
VOICE DEPARTMENT
Broadway Stars
Saturdays - 11:30 am-12:30 pm
14 weeks* starting February 9
$275 per semester
Instructor: Rob Woodin
Ages 8 to 12. Sing contemporary show tunes like a Broadway star! Learn proper vocal technique, diction and ear training. Work on solo and ensemble pieces and become comfortable "strutting your stuff" on stage. The class will write, produce, direct and present a show together.
No previous experience necessary.
