TATIANA KOLOSSOVA, piano. Born in St. Petersburg, Russia, the daughter of a guitar craftsman and an aeronautical engineer, Tatiana Kolossova had become an accomplished pianist by the age of 12. By age 16 she was working at the Leningrad Concert Company as an accompanist and stage performer.  Beginning at age 19, Ms. Kolossova held the position of Music Director at the Leningrad Film Company. In addition, she served as Music Director for two of St. Petersburg’s leading theaters.

Having completed her musical education in Russia, Ms. Kolossova set off to share her musical talents in the United States, and in 1991, at the age of 23, she came to the U.S. on an exchange program to serve as Music Director for Boston University’s theater company. She remained in the U.S. to pursue a Masters of Music degree at the Longy School of Music. By virtue of her love of music and her work at Longy, she encountered her most influential teachers, including Sally Pinkas.

Ms. Kolossova has over 20 years teaching experience, and is currently an active pianist and organist in the New England region and a founding member of the River Rose chamber music ensemble.

According to Ms. Kolossova, “It is my purpose and privilege to serve the community. As a teacher I use an approach that integrates many different aspects of music-making. This philosophy results in the most effective piano-learning approach, with ease and joy for all age groups. The main focus is to learn music from the music itself. My job is to uncover and strengthen every individual student’s potentials and to guide the student through the process of matching his or her performance level to these potentials and beyond. In Art possibilities are endless...” Tatiana is teaching at IHM on Fridays and Saturdays.
