Early Childhood | Piano & Keyboard | Strings | Harp | Woodwinds & Brass | Guitar & Bass |
Jazz | Percussion | Voice | Alexander Technique | Theory/Composition/Technology Lab

Wind and brass instruments are at the heart of the symphony orchestra, of marching bands, jazz combos, school and community concert bands. Our wind faculty offers personalized instruction from beginning experiences for youngsters through college audition preparation and adults' continuing education in flute, Baroque flute (traverso), recorder, oboe, clarinet, bassoon, the saxophone family, trumpet, French horn, trombone and other low brass. Your special interests in Baroque, Celtic, Chinese, jazz, Classical, and other repertoire and styles are welcome!

Ensemble opportunities exist for every wind student: Recorder Consort, Clarinet Choir, Brass Trio, Toot Suite, Community Flute Orchestra, Woodwind Choir, and Sax Quartet, plus chamber ensembles of any size, playing any style of music. Jazz combos are available too! See the Jazz/Guitar Department listings in age appropriate sections for more information.

Performance-enhancing workshops and classes are available for any student at any level, from District Audition workshops held in fall and winter, to regular study of the Alexander Technique. Classes in Music Theory can improve your musical understanding (think of it as the grammar behind the poetry of music). Studying composition will unleash the creative spirit within every musician and put you closer to that spark of genius which drove Mozart, Beethoven, and Duke Ellington to put pen to paper. Please see the Lesson Enhancements listings in age-appropriate sections to learn how to develop more completely as a musician. We welcome you, or welcome you back, to Indian Hill's Woodwinds and Brass Department.
