Woodwinds & Brass Eileen Yarrison B.M., University of New Hampshire; M.M., Pennsylvania State University; D.M.A., Flute Performance, University of Nebraska. Dr. Yarrison is conductor and music director of the Nashua Flute Choir. She has appeared at the National Flute Association Convention, and was selected to conduct the Professional Flute Choir at the San Diego convention. She has performed world premiere commissions by Gary Shocker and Katherine Hoover. Her discography includes "Sounds of Christmas" and "Points of View". Ms. Yarrison is the coordinator of the Bach's Lunch concert series at Indian Hill. She performs with IHM faculty colleague Jamie Dunphy as the flute/guitar duo Wood, Wind and Wine. Frank Bonanno B.M., Boston Conservatory. Principal teachers: Eddie Daniels, Jerry Bergonzi and Pat Prencipe. A versatile performer of classical, jazz and popular music, Mr. Bonanno has appeared with many performers including The Temptations, Frankie Valli, Johnny Mathis, Gladys Knight, Wayne Newton and Ben Vereen. He teaches at the Applewild School and is Music Director at St. Camillus Church in Fitchburg. Since 1989, he has been bandleader of Center Stage, a four-member ensemble in which he plays saxophone, clarinet, flute and synthesizer. Carolyn Cantrell B.M. and Performer's Certificate, Eastman School of Music; graduate work at Boston University. Principal Horn for The Orchestra of Indian Hill, Ms. Cantrell is a member of the Portland Symphony Orchestra and performs with the Boston Lyric Opera, Boston Ballet Orchestra, Boston Landmarks Orchestra, Chorus Pro Music, and the Boston Pops Esplanade Orchestra. She was previously on the faculty at All Newton Music School and Wellesley Public Schools. Sue Gleason B.M., New England Conservatory. Principal teachers: James Pappoutsakis, Lois Schaefer. Ms. Gleason has appeared at Jordan Hall, Boston University, the Longy School, JFK Library, Boston College, and Thayer Conservatory. She performs throughout New England with the flute and harp duo, Wind Chimes, which has released several CDs since 1997. Bill Jones B.S., University of New Hampshire; M.M., New England Conservatory; private study at Lake Placid Art Institute, NY. Mr. Jones has performed with the Boston Jazz Alliance Orchestra on PBS and appears throughout the Boston area at Wally's Café, Ryles Jazz Club, Top of the Hub, the Jazz Café, and the Bay Tower Room. He has been on the faculty at Timberlane Regional Middle and High Schools, Old Rochester Regional High School, New England Conservatory, and the University of New Hampshire. Shan Liu B.M., WuHan Conservatory of Music, China; M.M., Indiana University; Artist Diploma with Donald Peck, Principle Flute, Chicago Symphony Orchestra. A prizewinner in the Beijing Flute Competition, Ms. Liu has performed with China's Central Philharmonic Orchestra, Beijing Chamber Orchestra, Indiana University Philharmonic, and Southwest Michigan Orchestra. She has been on the faculties at St. Mary's College and Indiana University South Bend Academy. Andrea Mason B.M., New England Conservatory. Principal teachers: James Pappoutsakis, John Heiss, and Robert Dick. Ms. Mason is a founding member of New Art Winds, which was awarded a Carnegie Hall debut in 1985, and TAKT, an ensemble merging ancient and contemporary music. Former principal flute with The Orchestra of Indian Hill, she currently freelances in the Boston area with the Copley Chamber Players, The Record Players, and The Classic Trio. Margaret Phillips B.M., University of Michigan; M.M., Boston University. A member of the Boston Philharmonic, Rhode Island Philharmonic, Portland Symphony, and New Hampshire Symphony, Ms. Phillips also appears with The Boston Symphony, Boston Pops, and the Boston Pops Esplanade Orchestra. She is an associate professor in the Woodwind Department at Berklee College of Music. Steve Savage B.M., New England Conservatory. Mr. Savage retired as director of music for the Ayer and Groton-Dunstable Public Schools and has been active in music education associations throughout his career. A former principal trumpet for the Civic Symphony of Boston, he was horn instructor for the Boston Crusaders and works with the band at Immaculate Heart of Mary School in Still River. Paul Surapine B.M., Hartt School of Music; studies with Kalman Opperman. Mr. Surapine has performed with numerous orchestras, chamber ensembles, concert bands and opera theaters including the St. Louis Symphony, Hartford Symphony, Opera Orchestra of New York, the Kalman Opperman Clarinet Choir, and his own Paul Surapine Clarinet Ensemble. He is on the faculty at Anna Maria College, the College of the Holy Cross, Clark University, Worcester State College, and Worcester's Joy of Music Program. Mr. Surapine is also founding executive director of the Claflin Hill Music Performance Foundation in Milford, MA. Timothy Terranella Artist Diploma, Boston Conservatory, B.M. Curtis Institute of Music, M.M. (flute) Boston Conservatory; Principal teachers Leonard Rose, Orlando Cole, Mischa Nieland, Ronald Thomas. Mr. Terranella has performed as both cellist and flutist with many of Boston's most prestigious musical organizations including the Boston Symphony Orchestra, Boston Esplanade Pops, New Hampshire Symphony, Cape Cod Symphony, Nashua Symphony, Boston Academy of Music, Claflin Hill Symphony, Boston Lyric Opera and the Bostonian Chamber Players. He has performed and recorded in the New York area as a member of the Orpheus Chamber Orchestra. Mr. Terranella has dedicated much of his professional experience to teaching the cello and flute and coaching chamber ensembles. He has served on the faculties of Boston University, Buckingham and Nichols School, Groton School and the Joy of Music Program (Worcester, MA) where he is the conductor of the JOMP Chamber Orchestra. Henry Tervo B.M. Ed., University of Lowell; M.M., New England Conservatory. An active freelancer, Mr. Tervo has performed with the Boston Pops, Emmanuel Music, Portland Symphony, Pro Arte Chamber Orchestra, Rhode Island Philharmonic, and the Acton Chamber Orchestra. He is also a woodwind instructor for Acton-Boxborough Community Education and has been on the faculties at Lynn Public Schools, Gordon College, Powers Music School, Lynnfield Public Schools, and Weston Public Schools.
