Stephen Sondheim's A Little Night Music
Friday, May 16 at 8:00 pm
Saturday, May 17 at 2:00 pm
Saturday, May 17 at 8:00 pm
Sondheim's most charming and accessible musical tackles the subjects he knows best: the complicated relationship between men and women and the nature of love. Inspired by director Ingmar Bergman's bittersweet film "Smiles of a Summer Night", the story follows the romantic follies of several families in turn-of-the-century Sweden, where the endless summer night smiles three times "at the young who know nothing, at the fools who know too little, and at the old who know too much." Set to an enchanting waltz score with a libretto that recalls both Chekov and Shakespeare 's
"A Midsummer Nights Dream," this Tony-award winning show invites us to enjoy an era of elegance, enchantment and romance in all its glory and foolishness. Fully-staged production by the Indian Hill Music School Opera Workshop.
